Gas gauge acting weird

so a week and a half ago i was driving my s13(kade) and i notice that my gas gauge was acting weird. my gas meter started to drop in a noticeable pace. it kept on droping past the 1/4 mark, then went up halfway between 1/4 - 1/2. and then back down but this time it went all the way down past E and even going as far as the next bank of lights below the gas gauge. and it stayed like that when i got home. i had to do some work so i left it alone. then when i came back the next morning it was back to the original spot. i didnt really know what to do so i just filled my tank all the way. everything seemed to be normal after that. so i thought it was just a weird fluke. but, now that im nearing E a little under 1/4 mark its acting funky again. dropping all the way down past the E and further then sometimes would go back up to normal or even just moving up and down from the original mark and past E never past what i think is the ACTUAL gas level.

Has anything like this ever happen to any other s13 owners?? im not really sure where to start troubleshooting this problem. anything would helpful. thanks.

my fuel gauge isn't working now too... it does that same type of weird behavior this happend after i installed my walbro fuel pump.... i would check the float and make sure its attached right, i haven't got to fixing mine yet, once i do ill see if the float was the issue.

Mine doesn't work either. Stuck at the bottom never moves I actually ran out of gas once lol I was only on my road though

looks like you guys got lucky and got the magical gas tank, it fills up by its self without pumping..lol i didnt bother when it didnt work, thats because i filled it every friday

It happens on my S14 as well.........usually when its getting ready to move down to a diff. mark on the gauge. You learn to live with it I suppose, once its sitting on E steadily thats when to get worried. Otherwise it works out fine as far as I know and have experienced. On top of it my gas light doesn't work lol. I say if it bothers you, investigate further. If not let it be....
