I was on empty and the light came on yesterday so i filled it up. Only took 12.5 gallons to fill it up. The manual says the tank is 17 1/4. What's the deal, do I have 4 3/4 gallons left when the light comes on? Oh and I got a little over 21 mpg, that's pretty good for all around town.

I'm not sure exactly what parts meter the level of gas in the tank, but it might have something to do with the pump. My dad's GMC Jimmy did the same thing for awhile, then it started to say it had half a tank when it was really empty. I never asked my dad how he fixed it though. I just know one of the things he replaced was the fuel pump.

I think Chilton's reports our tanks to be 16 gallons, but of course they could be off. My friends vr4 has an 18 gallon tank...i guess that's why he only races with a quarter tank of gas. hehe
