Gas gauge shoots up past full after drifting

I took my s14 for a couple runs of drifting and afterwards my gas gauge just shot up past full. I opened up my gas tank and my float was loose. I attached everything back nice and snug and I still have the same problem. Anyone know whats going on?

Drifting is bad for your car. Your floater is done.
