I've got the best of both worlds when it comes to the V. I've got a 6MT SL and Mom has a CVT SL. Of course we're comparing MPGs between the cars. Now, I got my car exactly 7 weeks before Mom got her's, so mine's a little more "broken in". I'm averaging around 33-34 currently (~ 3400 miles to date) and Mom is getting around 30-31 (~ 1,200 miles to date). I know 2-3 MPG isn't much..... BUT the CVT is rated better, ya know (and she drives like the GREATgrandma that she is ) .
To the question.... or comment.... actually confusion
I did EV's MPG survery and Mom is working on her's for him. I finally convinced her to STOP on the fill-up when the nozzel clicks off. (She's always been a topper-off-er !)
MY CAR - By the time the gas gauge drops down the first quarter, I've got around 115-120 miles on the trip odom.
MOM's CAR - At the same point on Mom's car, she's only got around 75-80 miles on the trip odom.
On her way to my house (45 miles one way) a couple of days ago her low fuel light came on. When she stopped to get gas, the car only took a little over 10 gallons. We've got a 13.5 gallon tank, right ? I wouldn't think the light would come on so soon. I've had the light come on in my car once. When I filled up, IIRC, it took almost almost 12 gallons.
I KNOW the gas gauge is only an "estimate" of the fuel level, but I just wouldn't think it would be this different in the same car. We've about come to the conclusion that her gauge is "off" by at least a gallon or maybe closer to 2 gallons.
I'm sure there's nothing that can be done about it and our service guys would probably just laugh at us if we took her car to the dealer, but it's still frustrating !
