After that, you'll need to start checking electrical stuff, that procedure is outlined in the FSM.

i disconnected the fuel pump and gauge wires and the gauge dropped to empty.. then i hooked it back up and it went back to full. my friend is an infinit cert. tech and he checked it out... said i need a fuel sending unit cause of too much resistance on it... he totally lost me... but anyhow.. is there anything else it might be? i checked the price on that part... $161!! :(

yeah, my buddy that checked it out has one, he owns an S14 also... is this a common thing? or how does this happen?

Sounds to me like something mechanical. If you filled your tank up and it never went down, maybe the sender in the tank is stuck on full. I'd pull it out and have a looksie. Not sure how it works on these, I assume it's some kind of float. Just my .0199999.
