Have any of you 2007-2008 Nissan Maxima owner's experience the fuel gauge dropping below E and the never works again ? I've heard that it's caused by a voltage spike !!!

Are there any tech. bulletings concerning this issue ?

Not exactly sure what could be causing this, but here is a good link to keep handy for any bulletins for your Maxima:

I know I had a friend who had a 2004 Sentra SE-R Spec V that this happened to and ended up needing his fuel pump replaced (which is a fairly common issue that comes up with those cars around 75,000 miles, although his is the only one I've heard of where the fuel gauge stopped working correctly.) I'll see if I can do some more digging for you.

There is a service bulletin for this. Bring her to the dealer. Good luck!

Thanks for the tech. bulletin but it's the gas gauge in the cluster that needs replacement and it drops to below E (empty) and you have to replace everything that's wired to the printed circuitry !! You can't "just" replace the gas gauge behind the cluster which is major bucks !!!

As Xenon said, take it to the dealer for diagnostic. The gas gauge may be reading below empty due to faulty Fuel Level Sensor.
