Hi All:
I am new to the forum and just purchased a 2004 350Z Silver Convertible with 91,000 km's one week ago. :dblthumb: I just filled the tank up and it is showing 3/4 full. So I am assuming the gas gauge sensor or float doesn't work. Is this an expensive and hard fix ?
Issue # 2. Opened the door and noticed the interior lights are not working as well. Hopefully it is just a fuse but the fuse panel says the interior lights and trunk light are the same fuse and the trunk light is working. Checked one of the interior bulbs and it is good but doesn't light.
I am really looking forward to driving this car, just hope I don't have any more problems..... :ohno:

As an update: Checked all the fuses in the car and under the hood and they were all good. Was hoping to find a bad one. :frown:

I've noticed on my Z that some pumps have a rather aggressive cutoff and I've had to wait until a few seconds and keep filling up. On some pumps I've done the wait and fill cycle three or four times.

Before going through all the trouble of messing with the float you should do some record keeping for a week or do to compare the amount of fuel you use versus what you put in. You might not have to do anything at all except the wait & fill cycle I mentioned.

The interior lighting issue I don't have much input on, at least right now. I'm a big proponent of getting the simplest and cheapest solutions first. I'd try a new bulb or two and see if that improves your lighting. Get a cheap replacement someplace and if it fixes things you may to consider picking up some LED bulbs someplace since they're so much brighter and last practicality forever.

Welcome to the Z family and NICO! :badger

I noticed there is a dte (distance till empty) I will use that as well to ensure that I don't run out of fuel. I wsill also do the recording as suggested.
As for the lights...the visor ones don't work as well. The only light that I noticed working is the one in the trunk. Nothing in the interior of the car except for the dash, speedo, voltage, oil pressure etc....

Great NEWS!! :rotfl
My son found a Technical Service Bulletin for the problem and the car lights are now fixed :mike
If anyone else experiences this problem the service bulletin Classification is: EL02-045. The Reference # is NTB03-001 The Bulletin is Interior Courtesy Lamps Inoperative. Very easy steps to follow and now my lights are working...

That is great news! Thanks for posting the TSB, I don't know that I've ever seen that TSB, or a member on here with an interior light problem like you described.

What's the word on your fuel issue(s)?

We have been pretty busy and have not had time to take the car out for some rides. Right now it is sitting in the garage so for the moment I will use the DTE as my option to check on the gauge to see if it is working or not.
