1995 Infiniti J30...I have a half tank of gas and my emergency gas light (below the meter) is stuck on), but I just put $20 in the tank...what's going on??? Before this happened the light was flickering a few days before and the meter went up down sparactically before eventually going back to where it was suppose to be, but these were both brief episodes and worked them self out. Anyone have an idea what the problem is???

Defective gasoline or just a failure in the auxillary 2.5 gallon sensor [very very very rare]. Could also be a short in sensor cabling.........ground turns the light on.

These problems were common last fall when high sulfur gasoline was mistakenly sold in Florida. It was the converse how ever in that the gauge always showed FULL.........even when empty.

Something for dealer to look into.

Do believe this is an issue that could leave me stranded somewhere? If I took it to a normal garage (not a fan of the dealer) do you think they would be able to help me??? Thanx.

Is your gauge working properly? The only way I could forsee you getting stranded would be to run out of gas. The light flickering shouldn't have an impact on anything else.

Yea, my mechanic took a look at it and he said the sensor was messed up. The funny part was I turned my stereo up again to show him and the gas light started flickering again and then it went off. So now where driving fine again, but its sure to come back cause I paid 450 for those 12s and the amp so best believe im gonna make the concrete shake...lol. Could have anything to do that the gas tank is right in between the seats the subs and if I keep playing the stereo could it effect the gas meter sensor and make things worse???
