The owners manual specifically states PREMIUM is recommended as does the label inside gas filler door.

You may use 89/87 in an emergency but Nissan recommends imediately add Premium as soon as possible.

If you want to use regular, buy another car..

I only burn Premium in my Q and I think you'll find that is the consensus.

Welcome to NICO.

Please don't take these responses are "condescending", as that's not the intention. We're not a group of elitists, but we do all own the same car, and have come to learn that if the price of gas (premium over regular) is something you have to "consider", than a Q is possibly not the right car for you. Yes, you may have bought it for a great price, but it was a ~$50k car new, and has certain requirements that still need to be complied with, even now as it's 7+ years old.

Yes, Rex is right. There have been many threads on the pros and cons, mpg, performance, etc... we've just been round and round you get the short answer.

I started with regular, but switched to premium when I learned what it can do to your car.

Premium is awesome. The car feels so much faster and more responsive.

Check out a guy in Brooklyn name Bobby Q45. He's been working on Q's since '90.

if you run anything but premium the wear on the engine will make you regret it. The repair bills alone will cost more then running premium for the entire year

NOBODY not one person will recommend running anything less here. This may be the one and only time we all agree

Also look at it this way: At best, you save about $0.20 per gallon - the difference between 87 and 91 at most stations.

For most people, this equates to about $10 to $20 "saved" every month. Is it worth doing this and not helping your engine? Probably not ...

Finally, my experience with my wife's Acura on reduced gas mileage (search for that post!) will tell you that the "savings" are illusory - the improved mileage with 91 more than makes up for the difference in gas price.

What's "regular"?

Isn't that what you use in your '67 Camaro or what you gas up your parents car with when using you own money?

I'm 39 now and have a Mercedes & a Q45. I haven't purchased regular in 15 years.

Yes it may sound condescending, but if you gotta ask, maybe you can't afford it.

Agreed. Even on a cheap students budget, I still fill up with 94 octane, regardless of the price. Gotta pay to play, especially with the Q45. I usually go a little out of my way to buy it from Sunoco. I don't know what that works out to in American standards, because if I am not mistaken, I think we use a slightly different formula to calculate our octane numbers up here.

You guys are high in SoCal. It's another dime a gallon throughout NY and another 20-25c a gallon in NYC.
