I had just bought Little Blue, and went to the dealer the next week for some minor fixes. Then on the way home from the dealer, the "check engine soon" light came on. Well, I just turned right around and went back. They checked it, and said the gas cap wasn't tight enough, and they said they fixed it.

So now, a month later, the "check engine soon" light is back on. We reattached the cap a few times and the light is still on.

Took Little Blue to Auto Advantage for an evaluation, and their computer said it was a problem with the fuel pressure, like a loose gas cap, or faulty hose.

We have ordered a new gas cap for the V and should be in tomorrow.

Any one else with this problem, and did you get it fixed. Do I have to get the "check engine soon" light reset at the dealership, or will it go away when the problem goes away?

Just do a search of the Versa forum for "gas cap" in post bodies. LOTS of info available on the subject.

In the search window below the "Search For" is the "Forum" drop down box. Select Versa forum in that box. Below that on the search page is "Search In" which is selected as "Topic Titles (Return a thread listing, faster)" by default. Select "Post Bodies (Return a post listing, slower)" instead to search the body of the threads as well.

I believe that many folks do not take the time to refine their searches. If you do not select a specific forum on the search page, then your search will provide results from all of the NICO forums. This leads to many people claiming that the search "sucks", but all they need to do is take a moment to read and learn how to use the tool.

The big, flashy, but misplaced search button (top LEFT = lame) is the way to go. It allows you to customize your search.

It's a pretty common issue with modern cars. The reason is that fuel systems are supposed to be sealed (to contain fuel vapors among other reasons), and when the car sees that the system isn't sealing properly, it throws an "Evap" code, which could cover a variety of things. MOST of the time it's simply a bad gas cap seal. Also most of the time, the check engine light will go away on it's own once the car realizes everything's "okay" again.

THE NEW GAS CAP WORKED, so far.We replaced the gas cap this afternoon, and the "service car" light went out.

I hope that is all that is going to go wrong.
