As I've mentioned before, since I got my new fuel pump and control module installed, the buzzing noise came back at 60+mph during acceleration. Gone during cruise. I didnt have the tank cleaned out.

I've been using Chevron "Techron" Fuel System Treatment every couple tankfuls, with good results and smoother idle. But recently at Wal-Mart I tried the $1 cheaper Valvoline annual fuel system treatment (12 mo or 12000 mi).

I must say, it worked wonders. The buzzing is nearly gone, although it is still somewhat there under very heavy acceleration at over 75mph. After two tanks of untreated gas, the improvement persists unlike Chevron, where the somewhat loud buzzing returned toward the bottom of the tank.

So for $8.64 vs. $9.99, I think I got a good deal. Any other injector cleaners, fuel system treatments out there that seem to work?

Chevron Techron ahs a good rep here but sometimes switching between detergents can be really helpful.

BG 44K.

It 'IS' the ingredient Chevron refers to as "techron", albeit in a MUCH more highly concentrated form. I'd be very suspicious of any "off-the-shelf" additive making any improvements...

I also am a little leery to agree that the fuel pump is the cause of the sound you describe, nor do I think application of a fuel system cleaner would affect that, but I could be wrong.

I had a slight uneven idle in my 97Q. Dealer replaced a sensor before I bought the car ( it was a used Q45) but that didnt really help. tried a bottle of Chevron Techron and it worked GREAT! Idles super smooth now.

Where can I find BG 44k? Is it available at any NAPA or Schucks/Checkers or is it a dealer item?

Thanks,-J.

Joe at Scottsdale sells it (good price, too) or you can check with your local mechanic.

It's a "shop-only" product, unfortunately.

Do a search here for BG 44K for more info....

It cost us $12.83 a can and we buy 96 cans per month.........for both Lexus and Infiniti 30/60k services............believe me if we could find something less expensive that worked even close we would save the money.

I use a can a week before each oil change [4 per year].

Wow!

I picked up a can of Billman's Fuel System cleaner for $3.50 at Shucks. Worked WAY better than Valvoline or Chevron Techron. Idle remains silky smooth after two tanks of gas, acceleration is quite lively.
