Can a garrett gt28R turbo be rebuilt? i found one for $300, and they guy says that it was rebuilt, but i have heard things here and there in the past that a ball bearing turbo can not get rebuilt.what should i be looking for when i go to look at a used turbo to buy,

They can be rebuilt however the rebuild cost usually almost equals the price of a New turbo. So it goes with BB turbos. Look for excessive oil on the turbo, naturally shaft play, and find out if it ever smoked.

so when the guy is asking $300 for a rebuilt one its prolly bs? i'm going to go look at it, but i am not sure what to buy, and its on craigslist sooo... i know its hard to find reliable employees on craigslist so it might be the same with autoparts.

Rebuilt BB turbo for 300? Save yourself the trip and forget about it. We recently had a board member pick up a "rebuilt BB turbo" for cheap and it was a blown T-25 bushed turbo.

did you buy it in the last 120 days through ebay? with a credit card? two words CHARGE BACK, call your card company and file a dispute for item not as described, tell them you tried to contact the seller, and they refused to talk to you nor to take the item back for refund and you'll win the case.

don't bother with paypal's dispute anything, i mean you can waste your time by opening a ticket with them, but all in all dispute it with your credit card company.
