I was looking at their GPS today and found a great deal. At Best Buy, they had their doorbusters sales and I happened to pick up ticket 133 out of 150 for the Garmin nuvi 260w GPS for $189.99. Original price was $349.99 It comes with a automobile charger, window mount and the unit itself.

I didn't wait in line outside like most people did this morning around 5 am, went there around 2 in the afternoon. So far, I tried out the GPS itself and like it alot. It read out street names, tells you where to go and such. IMO, I think I made a good investment. Recommended!

Good Buy!

We have been using a Garman C330 for the past 3 years and if you travel to 'never been there before' places like we do it will get you there and get you home. Your unit should have the latest maps...our maps are getting dated in the newer subdivisons around Dallas. Damn progress!

I use it in our Honda Odyssey mounted on a plate that I built that fits in the pull out ashtray.

However when we tried to locate a good spot in the Versa, it was tough to find a place that kept it out of sight, but still visible to use. I found that the big round suction cup on the mounting arm fit perfectly in one of the cup holders in front of the shift lever.

Trouble with that location is it can't acquire the satelight signals down there under the dash. The solution was to mount an auxiliary antenna up on the dashboard and run the wire down to the unit. That works fine and the installation looks, factory.

There is a small removable plastic cover up near the windshield on the passenger side I popped it out, cut out a hole that perfectly matched the antenna body glued it in and then ran the wire down behind the glove box to the unit. You can check it out here...........................................................................,

That's the same one my sig fig has... which means I get to use it most of the time (rofl).

He's wanting to get the new Knight Rider one... which means the nuvi will become mine. I usually just stick it above the steering column (in front of the speedometer)... when it becomes officially mine, I may install it right into the dash... Unless I find out between now and then that expecting it to last 5 or 6 years is asking too much... then I'll probably just keep it above the steering column or see how I like the suction cup.

When we used my friend's TOMTOM, it stuck nicely to the window and to the top left of the rear-view mirror.

My Wife and son got me the Garmin nuvi 260w for fathers day and I absolutely love it. Very easy to use and extremely handy. My wife "borrows" it a lot but I just got her a Blackberry Curve which has a GPS in it and maybe she'll leave mine alone, Good Choice and Great Price as I think mine was $200.00 on sale at that time. Oh yeah, you can download some really cool cars and with an SD Card it's great for looking at digital photos from your camera as well. I just stuck the mounting disc on the dash and put the unit on there with the suction cup when I use it, otherwise I take it out and put it in a little bag and out of sight when I'm parked. No problem as yet as my car is parked in my garage or a secure fenced and patrolled area at work.

I had trouble trying to use the dashboard mount disc for the unit itself. Like the disc itself has a sticky adhesive on the bottom, but the dashboard doesn't like it for some reason.

It's not illegal attaching a GPS on the windshield in Colorado. I'm going to stay with the suction on the windshield until I can find a better place.

Mile High Versa,

Do you treat your dashboard with protectant such as ArmourAll, STP, or the like. I attached my disc to the dashboard (untreated) and had a bugger of a time getting it off!!! Do yourself a favour and buy the "sandbag" friction mount. That way there are no tell-tale marks to alert thieves.
