i see them being used, but i wouldn't entrust it to hold my expensive unit during some emergency braking maneuver.

My GPS came with a black plastic disc. You stick the disc to the dash and use GPS's suction cup holder.

I have one similar to this except there is no built-in mount. You need to attach the suction mount to it. Other than that it has the same base. I use it on a Lexus IS250 because I like looking at the Garmin animation map in addition to the Lexus.

As said earlier, it can slide during hard braking maneuvers. So what you need to do is to buy those cheap rubber mats that hold cell phones in place as additional measure to prevent sliding. Then you should have no problems. The friction mount has rubber under it too that really makes it not slide with the rubber mat.

These will work great then.

Personally, I have my Garmin in the vertical position where I can still see most of my tachometer. Only care about up to 3000 rpms anyways. It will fit horizontally perfectly too if it is the 4 inch version. I have pixs of it on some thread in here on gps locations.

Thanks for the tip on the non slip mat. It looks like this will work for my modest Garmin 350.
