garage door opener

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

occassionally merely starting my EX in the garage will cause the garage door to operate.

I wrote to HomeLink: they think the problem is caused by a short in the EX wiring. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I kinda have the opposite of your situation. I don't have homelink, instead I use the remote provided by my garage door. I usually put my remote in the door storage area by my foot since I don't like it blocking my view on the sun visor. With my other cars I can open the garage door from some distance away, with the EX I have to drive right up to the door. I'm guessing the car has thicker metal shielding on the doors that prevents RF waves from getting out.

I'm guessing you have a Metal Garage Door, too?

The garage door is wooden. I thought it was the remote at first, so I changed the battery, I even bought a new one because I thought the transmitter was getting weak. Didn't make a difference. The upside is the EX will probably withstand an EMP blast better than most cars!
