Anybody got a pic of these? I think I have an idea of how these work, but I'm not sure. I'm going to need piston's made and as an option I can have total seal gapless rings added. Just doing some research.

Make *absolutely* sure you or your builder hones the cylinders to their exact specifications!

If you're interested in a real good alternative to gapless, I'd suggest Deves rings. We intstalled these on my son's moderately built 4G63T and followed Mototune USA's procedures for a hard break-in.

Unfortunately, the oil cooler ruptured and the engine self destructed due to lack of oil. On the bright side we got to take a look at the pistons and the effectiveness of the Deves rings and the hard break-in. The only term I can use to describe what we found is "ZERO BLOW-BY" Below the compression rings the pistons were still as shiney and new as the day we installed them.

Pretty darn good for a rebuilt engine bored .020 over with new oversize forged pistons running 9:1 and 10-15psi. I know I'll stick with Deves and the hard break-in.

myetball, where did you get your pistons and rings from? I've heard good things about Deves rings, but wasn't sure where to get them from. Did you get the pistons and the rings from the same place? Can they do custom piston diameters and compressions? I'm looking for something a little different than standard.

Send me an email at [email protected] and I'll give you the link to the supplier. It's that top secret place Dee and I talk about. They can definately hook you up with any size/compression pistons you want.

A word of warning to those that are looking for only rings: The set of Deves rings we got came with oil rings that didn't fit. Apparently Deves didn't make oil rings to fit our 2G pistons. We ended up with Deves compression rings and stock Mitsubishi oil rings. If you want rings only, have your ring groove dimensions handy when you order.

We didn't get the pistons from this place so I'm sure if you get pistons and rings everything will be perfect.

FYI, HERE'S the link to Motortune USA break-in page.

Also a believer in the hard break-in.
