I have read soo many theories on these little suckers. The only 'evidence" I have is that a 1200cc strict spec mini-stock class here where I used to live banned them as the few cars that had them seem to go just a little better. My engine wis way different VH obviously, and will have a 4" bore and running about 15psi/8.5-9.0cr, hoping for around 800crank hp (should hopefully be more will all other mods). So has anyone had any experience with gapless compression rings? I know one suby turbo had them, and it seemed to smoke a little till they removed them, something to do with suction. I have also heard great things with proven record low leakdown percentages, even after a small overheat. Please post your thoughts (especially tech experts!!).

depending on the turbo(s)/charger you use ... i would have thought 900+ crank hp would have been easily achieved with a 5.3+ litre

Yeah I like to be a pessimist. It is so easy to say "yeah 900hp" but the guys at work wont believe me! In fact by looking at a similar build without 5.2 litres and as a 10:1 NA wit similar cams, youre on the money. The heads flowed near 600hp max (NA equivalent at 0.5" lift). Basically I have so far only owned a car with half that hp figure so wow!!. Anyway enough about that, as the engine will put out what it will put out. My reasoning was to emphasise the situation the gapless rings will/may be used.So what ya think about them? I think its only the 2nd comp ring that is gapless? is this the case?
