Gap b/w the outside of the door and window on my s14 when opened

Just like the title said. There is a slight gap b/w my door and I believe the glass when ever I open the door. It's probably about a 1/4 of a inch or a hair over. Either way, with the door open, I can look down that gap and see what looks like some sorta solenoids or motors. I guess for the windows, locks, side mirrors or whatever.

I tried looking for some sorta fastener that might be missing, but I don't see where anything looks out of place. I am missing one of those fake plastic screw things like the ones that hold the carpet to the sides of the trunk, but I think thats just to keep the door panel to the door.

Any idea why this gap forms on booth doors only when they're open?
