Okay, so this friend I havent talked to in over 5 years calls up and wants to know if I'd like to start gaming with them on Sat nights (D&D). I havent roleplayed in years, probably 10 or so. This sounds like alot of fun though. A chance to see some old friends, drink a gallon of coffee, role some dice, make some really off color remarks, and generally have a good time. I remember when I was much younger and going to conventions and gaming all weekend long, non-stop. I sure had alot of fun. I always contributed my gaming to the fact that I never got involved with drugs or being a hoodlum in my high school years. Sure, its a very "geeky" thing to do but it kept me out of trouble when I needed to be out of trouble. I never regret all the time I put into gaming. I was just thinking it probably wont be the same fun I use to have.

You D&D players have a lot of patience. My short attention span can't handle anything but Grand Theft Auto and Gran Turismo. Well, Gran Turismo requires some patience too but I dont mind.

I like 3rd edition. It makes more sense, they totally revamped a lot of things that i found frustrating. Like how AC went from 10 - 0 - -10

i agree. i've played BG, NWN, icewind dale. Heck I even played the ORIGINAL neverwinter nights back in the early days of AOL. That was an awesome experience. MMORPG without the stupidity of today's MMORPGs

I say go for it, dan. I went a few years without gaming, and some old high school buddies invited me back into the group last year. It was a lot of fun, and even though we've broken the group up again (moving sucks), I would do it again in a heartbeat.

i like it a lot better than 2e. I played 2e for years before 3e came out. Things make sense. AC and To Hit rolls only increase. None of this negative AC crap or what you would have to roll to hit someone with an AC of 0. All AC starts out at 10 in 3e, and goes up depending on the bonuses you accrue. To Hit rolls start out at 0 and depending on class, strength, and weapon bonuses, will climb as well. Then you roll d20, add the roll to your To Hit score, and try to beat your opponent's AC score.

Some feel that 3e was dumbed down a lot, but I think all the changes were for the better. Battles take much less time, and the group idiot (cause every D&D group has one) can even understand what's going on.

Also, all ability scores use the same modifier scale. You don't need a whole book to understand what your ability modifiers are.

Go over to Barnes & Noble and grab a PH and take a quick look through it. You'll like it.

I just got PH today. Some B Dalton was going out of buisness and got it for $20. 3.5 and everything

I'll let you all know how it goes this weekend. The rules look similar except for the areas you mentioned, AC and all. Skills and Feats look interesting.

your not nerdy enough to understand it

BTW they made every universe you can think of for DBZ and turned it into a RPG. I have a dragon ball z one

There aparently is a warcraft 3 one out. I don't know if its like D&D style or warhammer style

You know.... if you guys wanted we could play online... The only disadvantage is you would have to be honest about your roles... Unless there is some way to netmeeting a number randomizer

NOW thats an idea! NICO D&D NERDS UNIT!!!

like i said. Not nerdy enough.

DBZ = dragon ball z its a cartoon that was popular in japan in the early 90'sD&D= dungeons and Dragons. All nerds from the 80's would play this.RPG= Role Playing Game. Describes itself. You play as a character in a fake world. Usually that have levels of the character and a story.abc=alphabet.......

Black Isle games are the best. But I think you're leaving out another gem: Planescape Torment. I remember reading the D&D books, but my love was MTG. I actually made a few Magic cards...if you want to go venture off into the "Others" forum you can see them.

What is your favorite D&D module? I remember this one (old one, probly date me) called "Castle Amber". This was the funnest and best story ever. I heard that they were making a PC game that is duplicating the old D&D modules. That would be sweet to make a PC game about this module. Best....Game.....Ever.
