Okay, I did try the search before I posted this. I followed a thread and posted there but discovered after the fact I had posted in a Nissan Versa forum - NOT GOOD. So, decided to come here.

I got a call from my daughter. Our 2001 I30 is starting to have problems. It has about 190,000 miles on it so not a total surprise. She tells me that the rpms are going up while she sits in park and that it drives very jerky and there is a very odd smell (like a burning or formaldyhde) smell in the car.

We can't bring it home like that so I need to find a good mechanic in Gainesville. I was thinking transmission problems (doggone it) and wondered if AAMCO is where I should head or is there a good HONEST Infinti mechanic who can tell me if it pays to fix it.

Would love to hear from anyone who might know who I can call tomorrow. Thanks!!

Laurie

I live in Gainesville. I wouldn't take it to the transmission shop until you get it diagnosed as a Transmission problem. And that doesn't sound like a transmission problem.

Jerry's A/C is a good shop, and I know they have worked on systems besides HVAC.If you really wanna take it somewhere trustworthy, I would take it to Gainesville Nissan and atleast let them diagnose the problem. If you want a non-dealer shop, I would goto Sal's Automotive 3650 Northwest 97th BoulevardGainesville, FL 32606-5064
