see, this is why i didn't post anything before. i was trying to keep my planned engine swap a secret because i didn't think anyone had ever done it. turns out, some guy in virginia is doing it in his driveway...

zer...93229

i mentioned a while back that i wanted to do a swap in the future. well it was going to be a vh45de + tt in my vert. so much for being the first. now i'm just going to have to one-up this guy when i get around to it. that is if he can make it work. which i'm sure he will. he's in the vh-forum, and those guys know their stuff.

oh well. i've got some other plans for making my vert unique. i just need to get on them quickly before someone else beats me to it, again...

im sure hes still in the RnD phases of making it work.

-DeX, I know exactly how you feel man. Ever since I purchased my front end, I was so amped about my plans of being the first fully R32 convertible. I had never seen one before. Then, one fateful day searching random forums, I saw a link. I couldn't believe what is described, a video of a full converted vert just after completion. I felt the exact same way. Crushed that I WAS NOT going to be first. After about a week of wanting to sell the car and give up completely, A few really good friends convinced me that I should go through with my plans, as it is what I wanted, regardless of it being first or last, and that in the long run, my plans will make a much better car than the one who took the wind out of my sails.

Sorry about the novel, but the point of the story is... Even if you aren't the very first person to do it, you will most certainly be one of a VERY select few that have the balls to finish it. It will be exactly what you wanted and you sure as hell won't have to worry about being the slowest one out there.

I SAY GO FOR IT AND SCREW THAT OTHER GUY!!!!

i'm not devastated or anything. i'm not going home to find the bottom of my jager bottle or anything like that.

i'm more bummed that i won't be able to come onto the vert forum x-number of years from now and drop the bomb on this place with pictures/videos of my sweet 450sx-tt convertible... oh well.

i invited him to join our forum over here. i'm curious to see where this project goes and whether or not he can make it happen. i'm concerned about the way i'm seeing a few things going together.

more power to him. just means i need to work harder and faster. ka-t is still next in line of things to do. when/if i get around to doing the vh swap, i want it to look clean.

Leave it to Ish to come up with the best solutions.

However I would suggest going quad-turbo setup...Veyron style.

Has anybody done a blown VH vert yet?

I am sorry that you don't want to do that swap dexter and that you are mad at the other dude. I didn't even know there was such a swap. I knew there was a VG30DETT swap but not a VH45DETT. Learn something new everyday i guess

yeah, i've seen you lurking in there for a while. we'll just have to show him what's up.

i've never seen another vh-swapped vert before, let alone a blown one. by blown, are you implying super-charged or just any forced induction? either would be sweet. i'm skeptical about this guy's vert, it looks like it's going to get hacked a lot. oh well, it's not like it was a nice vert to start with.

can't be much worse than a 7-bolt turbo dsm.
DirftKing102 wrote:I am sorry that you don't want to do that swap dexter and that you are mad at the other dude.
i'm still going to do it and i'm not really mad at the guy - just a little dissapointed. who knows, this guy may never get it to work. i hope he can get it done though because there's nothing more depressing than not finishing a project. i wouldn't wish that upon someone.

you can put ANY engine in ANY car. it's just a matter of how much money, time, and effort you want to put into it. rwd platforms are exceptionally easy to do any sort of crazy motor swap. it's all a matter of fitment and finding a way to make your engine work with your transmission and making your transmission work with your rear differential.

To clear it up. There is no VH45DETT in factory form. Its just a VH45DE from a Q45 with a custom twin turbo kit added.

There's a reason I wouldn't own/work on those as well.

I kinda felt that way when I saw Mikckey's black vert show up in the Falken booth at SEMA.

The solution? Make mine faster, sicker, more reliable and better.

Incidentally, I'm driving mine a couple times a week and having a blast at 18 psi. KA > VQ.

Do it!

I don't believe any S-chassis in general has a blown VH. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone!

sc + tt + n2o = yay for instant 50psi!!!

one question though? how am i going to plumb all of that, control the boost pressures, AND close my hood?

anyways, i just read that thread again because the OP posted. doesn't sound like he has what it takes to get this job done right any time soon. he doesn't have the knowledge, doesn't have the resources, and doesn't have the money.

so it's back to the internet i go in search of my next car purchase: 94-95 q45... unless i find a clean 3rd gen CSM (colt/summit/mirage) hatchback - because i'd buy whichever comes first and will end up with both anyway.

sorry dexter to steal your fire but the car is just about done. All the hard work is done minus the turbo oiling lines, the custom drive shaft and the custom fuel tank. I will tackle the wiring very soon for use a garage I know of here in Va. VIP Garage.

Reguardless I have the resources, I have the funding and what I need to get this done. By the way take a look at my profile and you will see this project was in the works close to 5 yrs ago. I just not got everything together and started working on it since March.

For the person asking about the turbos location; look further down in the pictures and you will see that the manifolds are routed in front of the wheel below the battery location and the same on the other side.

This engine bay will not be hard to work on. I removed the front cross brace and custom fabbed one to allow 2 additional inches up front. I also replace the factory water pump with an electric. I now have about 3 inches between the radiator fans and the front of the engine.

THIS IS ONLY PHASE 2 OF THE PROJECT. After I finish routing everything and everything operating correctly; i plan on stripping the car totally, engine bay, interior, and trunk. Then cleaning everything up. This car is capable of racing but my love of 240sx, verts, makes me want to build the car that Nissan didnt.

But for the people that said it couldnt be done 5 yrs ago, it would cost too much and so on. Im still gonna make it happen. Now Im currently still below a SR swap financially with motor turbos, manifolds, venom kit and so on.

Thanks I hope I cleared up any questions.

But Dexter come on build yours. The VH swap isnt limited anymore. We can give each other ideas. Just do it.

honestly, i'm glad you decided to stop in and check this thread out.

i don't mean to be a hater. i shouldn't have jumped to conclusions and made these assumptions. i dont' know you. i just wanted to make myself feel better. i apologize. i'll bust out some humble pie and go eat it in my vert after you get this thing up and running.

really, i'd offer you any help i could because that's how i feel the car community should opperate. i'm confident that you can get this car done because you're posting on nico and in the vh forum specificly. the guys in charge over there (vh forum) know their stuff and are very willing to help. i think if a novice wanted to put a vh in a civic, the guys in the vh forum would be able to help make it happen.

i'm sure a lot of the skeptism you're getting is coming from a lack of specifics when you're posting and possibly you're sharing pictures that lead to incorrect conclusions about what you're doing. from what i've seen, it looks like you have a long way to go to get it finished, but i could be way off. keep at it and persevere.

please continue to share this project - obviously i think it's a great idea. i'll get to it as soon as i can. i just won't be the first. oh well.

props to you.

I understand but what 240 looks good without the front bumper front cross brace and so on. I have move picks white the new cross member, there rad in hoses hooked up and the inner cooler piping cleaned up. But on another note. Do you know of anyone that would trade a 90mm Q45 throttle body for 2 91 and above throttle bodys. I figured out how to ease my turbo piping issues.

I found another Q intake so I cut the left side off since im not using Cruise control. Once the once the other comes in I will cut the right side off that one and flip it; then have it welded back up. Dual intake. But since factory is a 90mm I cant use 2 90mm =180mm intake . It will throw of the comp. But If Im using dual 60mm TBs it will only come out to120mm. A lot closer to the 90mm.

No offense taken. But next time look at what I started with. I drove to WV and picked up the shell, no suspension, no drive train, no seats, no steering wheel and so on. From that I by myself, in my driveway install the front suspension, rear suspension, install the engine and trans cut for the turbos, installed the dash, steering wheel, seats and so on in less than 2 months, it does get annoying when everyone says it cant be done.

I also have the black coupe with power doors in perfect condition. If your doing the coupe swap let me know. As you can see the doors are blk. I also have the mockup crossmember if your serious about the swap.

Let me know
