Gage light dimmer not working after radio install...Help

Hey guys, just finished the install on my avic-d3 nav system and for some reason my dimmer for my gage lights isn't working. The info screen and radio dimmers seem to be working, just not the dash lights. The dimmer switch wouldn't turn on the dome light either. I removed the dash piece below the steering wheel during the install so I double check to make sure the harness was plugged back in to the switch and it was. I noticed the new dash harness had both a "dimmer" and "dimmer ground" wire so I matched the dimmer wire up with the radio harness and grounded the other. Would there be any issues there? I was just surprised that the dimmer on the info screen and radio worked fine. Any advice?Thanks
