Ga16de motor question!

i have a 92 nissan nx 1600 and it has the ga16de in it. i just want to replace the motor. wat other yr model cars that use the ga16de can i use. does it only have to be a 92? where can i just get a motor? thanks.

You could easily do a GA->SR20DE/DET/VE swap. Check out the stickies up top. It'll be about the same as the SE-R stuff listed since the NX2000 is on the same chassis - i.e. you can use SE-R or NX2000 parts interchangeably for what you have to swap out to go GA->SR.

if i wanted to do a swap to a sr20det or something wouldn't i need to change quite a bit of stuff? id rather just do another ga16de. all i need is a longblock. if anyone can help me find one with low miles on it id appreciate it. thanks

Sorry, I misread you. The SR wouldn't be hard, but if you just want a fresher motor, you could pick one up out of any 91-99 NX/Sentra (non SE-R)/200SX (non-SE-R). However, 95+ ones will have a whole different wiring harness/ECU, so the simplest way to do this is to get a 91-94, but I doubt you'll find one with any truly low mileage. Is yours blown or what?

ya the it had over 221,000 miles wen i bought it. so im just going to replace it. so if i find a sr20de will it still use the same wiring harness if its out of a 91 to 94 you said?

There's a sticky up top listing what you need. You'll need a 91-94 SR harness.

The list looks long, but that's because it's detailed. In reality, it's mostly parts that go together (brackets) and the electrical bits, most of which will probably come with the engine.

a 91-94 sentra will work an nx 1600 any year will also.
