Would this even fit? That could be killer! I'd really look into that myself even.

There are some problems with this, well not really problems, but hurdles to get over:

1. You need the wiring schematics for the paddle shifters.

2. You need the wiring schematics for the regular shifter.

3. You need to wire them to work together unless you find some other way of putting the car in manual mode without the stock shifter.

4. You have to find a way to mount them behind the steering wheel (again is there enough room?).

5. Do the paddle shifters communicate with the ECU/Trans ECU the same way as the stock shifter? If they don't you have to rewire this or put it through a conversion box to interpret the right signals.

I'm not saying it can't be done (hell, I'm doing the turbo from scratch), it's just not going to be easy plug and play. Even a custom shop may tell you to pound sand simply because it's probably too much work and something could break and they do not want to be responsible for it.

Good luck though, if you get this done I want to see lol. :D

what if he just connect them to the wires for the shifter in manual mode so the car will just read it as if the car were in manual mode? then just mount the paddles.

I'll have to say, I had paddle shifters in my Audi, and while it was a nifty cool feature, I never used them. I always used the shifter when in manual mode. Although, for mine you didn't have to move the lever into manual to use them. If you blipped the switch on the wheel while in drive, it would downshift (or upshift) and it left you in control up until you were in the correct gear (or what the TCM deemed correct for D) for more than 8 seconds and then the automatic would take back over. If you physically moved the shifter into the +/- it left you in control all of the time. Being able to downshift on the fly as easily as changing radio stations was very cool, haha.

On a side note, its nice to see someone else from Georgia on here! I'm in Suwanee.

I loved that car, and still miss it; but I honestly couldn't deal with the upkeep anymore. At the time I was putting 30k miles per year on it, and the maintenance was a nightmare. I can safely say I will never buy another turbo-charged car again either. I like being able to get in the car and just go without having to worry about whats going to break this time. When I traded it in, it had 93k miles on it, the transmission was slipping (again) and I had blown a tire on the trip home from working out of town a few days before; and subsequently had to drive several hundred miles home on a unidirectional full-spare that was mounted for the other side of the car (which made the AWD very unhappy). I figured I could use the money I'd be spending on a new set of tires as a down payment and just cut my losses.
