Just thought I'd post this up for others who may have been experiencing this same phenomenon and they too could post up there experiences.

I have noticed lately that when I am cruising at a steady speed at times that the over-drive lockup tends to drop out for a few seconds and then re-engage. I know that it is the torque converter lock up because the second time I noticed it do this, I immediately moved the selector to 3 and when I did, it dropped down into 3rd. I have also noticed that at times when I drive the car for the first time during the day that after backing out of the driveway and putting the selector into drive that just after I ease on the throttle, I feel the transmission shift down from 2nd to 1st. I have a 1993 version of the 1st gear start TCU so it shouldn't even be attempting to start in second to begin with and even if it did, I know that it wouldn't drop down into 1st like that unless I was at wide open throttle from the start. It has also done this when coming to a stop light. It seems as if it doesn't shift all the way back down to 1st when I come to a stop. So when I leave the light, it stays in 2nd up until time to shift to the next gear. It hasn't done this that often and only did it once so far after going straight from reverse to drive. The transmission fluid is nice and pink per the white paper towel test and I am running the right amount of Lubeguard Red as per Q45tech. The trans itself has about 130k on the clock I believe. It is coming up on it's 30k trans fluid change.

Anybody else experience these oddities?

Was the inline OEM Nissan ATF filter replaced when the B & M was installed? A clogged fluid cooling line filter can bring some problems.

Unfortunately no good news here. I noticed some oddities before the torque converter disintegrated and sent fragments of metal through the transmission until it seized up. At the end it sounded like somebody was throwing coins into a blender. If the problem continues I would take the following steps:

1) Find a mechanic that is familiar with Nissan RE403A transmissions and ask to diagnose -- get a couple of opinions and repair prices for comparison purposes.

2) Get prices for changing a transmission. I had to pay $1,000 for a transmission swap and rear main seal replacement.

3) Call LevelTen transmission in NJ and establish rapport with Pat Barrett the owner as you may need him to overhaul your transmission at some point.

4) Check the prices of a Nissan rebuilt. The part number is 3102N-51X65RE.
The part number for a '94 model is 3102N-51X79RE. It is also a reman unit.
Since you are on the east coast, you can save money on shipping getting a rebuilt from orderinfinitiparts.com. You might consider taking your old transmission to Charlotte NC to get the $400 core credit and pickup a rebuilt unit from the dealer there.

5) If you can find a transmission from a wrecked G50 that was well cared for, you might be able to save some money over getting a rebuilt. But that is a risky situation and it costs a lot of money to change a transmission to find you purchased a bad one.

Sorry to hear the problems are starting.
