Hey guys. I was just wondering if you guys would be able to help me out here. I havent really had the time to take the car to a mechanic or anything but i figured i would see if any of the gurus in here would have any clue what is going on with my car. Heres the rundown.

95 Q45 138k miles

-It Will not go into reverse. It will go into drive and drive fine but once i stop and try to put it in reverse it just will not go. Not sure what is going on. It does not make any wierd noises or anything. Any help or ideas of what this could be would be great. Im hoping its something simple but im sure its not going to be. haha. Thanks in advance guys.

unfortunatly,it sounds like the beginning of the end............... check fluid level and condition, correct or replace if needed. what is the history of fluid/filter replacement?

same problem happened to my old 95 q at 120K...all of a sudden without warning reverse went out and all the car did was rev like it was in nuetral. All the other gears worked fine, but reverse did not and the only way it would work was to push the car backwards while in reverse and then something catches in the transmission and you have limited reverse. There are at least 7 other documented Q's here on NICO in the past 2 years who have had the same problem and only solution is a new transmission. Good luck....

Well i guess i kinda expected it. It came without warning which is so crazy.

rsiwicki- Thats exactly what mine does. It just revs freely and it just wont go into gear. So i guess my next question is How much should i be expecting to pay to get something like this fixed? What should i expect these repair bills to be. Anyone know of any reputable shops in the San Jose area to do something like this. Please let me know. Thank you.

Thanks for the help guys.

Same thing on my 96 at 160k.....I got a great price from Scottsdale Infiniti for a factory rebuild...runs great. I'll soon be joining the 200k group as I'm up to 189k now.....the old Q still kicks butt on my daily races to and from work.
