I decided to replace the thermostat on my Q since it never warms up in cold weather, I figured it was stuck open, but after disassembling the housing and pulling it out, I noticed it's definitely closing, but it does have a bunch of small holes in the valve/plunger part.
Now, stupid question, but previous experience and common sense point to something being wrong here, because holes would allow the coolant to keep flowing, along with the fact I've never seen a thermostat with holes in anything else I've worked on, but the holes are too precise to be hand drilled and it has the jiggle valve like the OEM thermostat, so I have to ask what's going on here? Is this some weird Nissan only form of normal, and if so then why does my car never warm up? If my suspicion is right and it's not normal disregard those questions.
