I noticed lots of smoke after changing one of injectors. My thought was that even after depressurizing the fuel by pulling the fuse on fuel pump there is still a lot left in the rail so that when the injector is pulled it drains down into the cylinder. Smoke goes away after several minutes, but is it worthwhile to drain the fuel rail before pulling one or more of the injectors? If so, where is the best place to do this?

My understanding is that if you let the vehicle sit for a few hours after pulling the injectors, perhaps overnight, its just as effective as draining the rail.

I have seen 2 Q engines hydrolocked and destroyed by not taking precautions and filling the combustion space ---------55cc with fuel.

Always remove the appropriate plugs and use shop air to get the gasoline out.

Easier to remove the rails and do all the rehab work on a bench......since you should be replacing the fuel hose lengths in anycase.
