Does anyone have a good road test for ball joints. Going over pot holes does not seem to tell me a lot, nor does driving each wheel over curb. I tend to get rather marginal results using crow bar with the car jacked up routine as the car has such heavy suspension. Tire wear is very even and not particularly great, but have a medium amount of rattle on bumps. Vehicle has 107K.

All things have a life: upper links ~30k, shocks, tension rods, rubber isolators ~ 60k.I ended up replacing both my lower suspension arms at 120k due to rubber bushing wear.

If you plan of keeping the Q all suspension components will need replacing sometime before 200k.

Do it now or later .

Have already replaced the uppers and the tension rods. Your figure of 120K on the lowers sounds like it will be the case for me as well. Have not done the forward shocks as they have a very solid feel, but rear shocks are definitely finished. Thanks as always for your good advice Q45 Tech.

you cant really diagnose things on the suspension until everything major has been replaced... by that I mean shocks, and all easily replaced suspension bushings.
