Hi all

Recently my Q45 stopped starting. One morning the car started fine. That night it started, idled for a few seconds, then stalled. After that it wouldn't start. Now when I try to turn it over all that happens is a kind of high pitched whirring type noise. I don't know much about VH45's, and am not the greatest at diagnostic's and was wondering if anyone has any idea's?

Have checked fuses, and made sure that fuel pump has power, but I really don't know where to go from here.

CheersBrendon

This is really in the wrong section BUT, have you checked the starter? High pitched Whirring noise sounds like the solenoid is not engaging to me.

I figured because the engine is a VH45, and this is the VH45 forum, that it wouldn't be a bad place to start the thread. Sorry, my bad.

How do I check the starter solenoid? If that is not engaging to I need a new starter or just solenoid. As I said, I don't know much about these engines. That doesn't explain why it started, then stalled though.

Checked error codes?

I'm going to take a punt and say that you have a nearly flat battery.

Things I would check.

1.) Battery voltage2.) Negative ground cable for corrosion and resistance3.) Remove starter and take it to an auto-parts store to have it checked out.

I don't think you can replace the solenoid on the Q's starter, you will have to replace the whole.
