Maybe he meant when it's trailered!

It would be nice if we could actually see the car. A side shot would be nice. Must be hiding something!

I think that one could get 25 mpg if the speed was kept below 60 mph and you never dipped into the throttle too much. Also, some super skinny, low friction tires would help. I got 26 mpg once when I was cruising thru Wyoming and Utah, most likely due to the higher elevation (less oxygen).

I took my '94 Q45t on a 7200 mile honeymoon trip through 19 States 3 years ago. I AVERAGED door to door 25.5 MPG! We used mostly regular federal highways, not Interstates, holding around 70 MPH, about half the tme with A/C on. Those miles included a week local driving North of Chicago, and 4 days in Northern Michigan. On top of that, we went through just about every small town across America.

It burned maybe 1/3 of a quart of oil on the trip.

Since, mixed city and freeway driving in Phoenix returned around 22 MPG with A/C off, and 20 with it on.

I hated to get rid of it, but it was time. My new '05 Q45 does get good mileage, but not like the '94. I now average around 18.5 MPG mixed city and freeway driving with A/C on, and 20 with it off.

A lot of it is how it has been broken in, state of tune, and driving technique, so 23 to 28 MPG is not impossible.

I also got 25 once with my 1995 on a trip through Wyoming and Utah. Wouldn't less oxygen result in less mpg?.

Less oxygen means the ECU adds less fuel so I can see where the fuel consumption would be different. It was fun driving thru the Rocky Mountain states until I got busted doing 94 mph. Oops. Somehow the ticket showed up on my Texas driver's record.

I just picked 4 of my receipts to calculate:

Date: 2007/05/03Gallons: 16.10 gallons (60.946 liters = 16.1002 gallons)Cost: $71.00 CDN (60.946 liters x $1.165/liter)Miles Driven: 193.8 milesMPG: 12.0 Miles Per Gallon

Date: 2007/06/07Gallons: 11.30 gallons (42.802 liters = 11.3070 gallons)Cost: $50.51 CDN (42.802 liters x $1.180/liter)Miles Driven: 142.9 milesMPG: 12.6 Miles Per Gallon

Date: 2007/06/14Gallons: 11.48 gallons (43.478liters = 11.4856 gallons)Cost: $50.00 CDN (43.478 liters x $1.150/liter)Miles Driven: 155.0 milesMPG: 13.5 Miles Per Gallon

Date: 2007/06/21Gallons: 12.7 gallons (48.145 liters = 12.7185 gallons)Cost: $54.50 CDN (48.145 liters x $1.132/liter)Miles Driven: 175.4 milesMPG: 13.81 Miles Per Gallon

That's all city driving and not exceeding 65 mph, short trips (not longer than 15min), usually driving at 40mph and very mild driving.

Short trips in City are especially hard on fuel mileage. My '94 took quite a while to fully warm up, but my '05 warms up amazingly fast. By the time I've driven 4 city blocks, my temp gauge is up to normal. Even so, by watching the fuel mileage display (which is optimistic by .9 to 1.3 MPG) I can see a big difference in fuel mileage when starting out on any trip. The constant acceleration required in city traffic massacres it too.

Lino, why not fill your tank and top it off, then take a 200 mile or so trip on a relatively flat open highway, running around 65 or so, then fill and top off again. It would be interesting to see what your fuel mileage is then.

Let us know.

It's been a long time since I had the car on a long trip and highway driving. When I do, I'll be sure to do a comparison. The cops over here are all over the place and especially the ticket-happy rookies... they're everywhere. I even noticed the other day at one intersection there were 4 cops on foot, on on each corner and monitoring the motorists and pulling people over. I've been trying my hardest to stay off the streets and with a speed limit of 30pmh in the city, 50mph on most local highways and 60mph on some others it's just no fun.
