When did Infiniti change the stereo to include an in-dash, single CD player?

I've seen some MY95 with this head unit and others without. Please clarify. Thanks in advance!

90-96 never came with in dash CD, just the in dash tape with CD changer...

you can just as easy swap in a later bose HU into a G50 like many of us (myself included) have done.

Look for any newer Nis/Inf Bose HU on ebay, figure ~$125. If there's a DNR button on the lower right it should "plug" right in, else you need the adapter mentioned in this link.zerothread?id=58725http://forums.nicocl ... ?id=108826

The owners claim that these head units were original to the car.

What gives?

Well I bought the following radio on ebay the other day. Now do I need this adapter to install it in my '91 Q?

Also will I have to adapt the brackets or the dash in order for the trim piece to fit over dash?

Yes, you need the adapter and yes, you need to mess with the brackets to get it to fit properly. I dont remember exactly what I did to get a proper fit.

The screws on the brackets are a WHORE, and if it seems stuck dont force it or you'll strip them. You might want to take it to a car audio shop and pay them five bucks to take them out.

Pics of it installed with the dash removed:zerothread?id=97681http://forums.nicocl ... d?id=95021

Thats the sameone i have in my Q......

1. You do need the adapter... Joe sells it for about $72. you do NOT need to mess with the brackets.. I put mine in and it was all good... Just take them off the old one and put them on the new one... Easy lemon squeezy... Thats how mine is setup and it looks factory ish....

The screws are best removed by putting the screwdriver in there and tapping on them with a small hammer.. If you use the right sized screwdrive,r they arent a problem!! Just press down on them kinda hard while turning....

Thirty four pictures, some poorly taken, showing the old and new head units and brackets side by side, being removed/installed:

http://q.spilky.com/bosecdhu/

These show the whole process step by step, plus there's bonus pictures of a cardboard box and my computer desk for some reason. I was going to make a writeup out of them but apathy beat me.

In these pictures, I attempted to use the existing brackets because they wouldnt come off, thus the fitment issues. DONT STRIP THE SCREWS OR YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Note that it will not play CDRWs.

I see what you did Jesda, it doesnt look like you swapped the brackets off your old BOSE HU from the Q onto the g20 HU.

Well I finally got the radio from a '99 Pathfinder with the single CD in the car and it was very easy. That harness from Infiniti Scotsdale (P/N 24028-3B300 $11.25) plugs right into the existing radio harness. I removed the brackets off of my old Q's Bose radio and put them on the new radio. No need to do any modifications to the dash. How did you figure out which wiring harness to use?

I managed to fit a small alpine amp under my head unit. Works great and it's always out of sight. Or did you mean OEM crappy bose amp?
