my girl just bought a 93 Q45 it has rough idle problems tail lights dont come on when the lights are on and a few other things.my new problem is as follows.her battery died and was unable to get any thing online no lights no nada.i gave her a jump and it fired up but when i disconnected it shut down. it must be the alternator right?probably a dumb question but if you can lend me a hand it might eliminate towing this baby to a shop and pay some dude to tell me what it could be. thanks.

You really need to read the timing Chain Guide article before you ever start the engine again.

Plenty of posts about the alternator replacement job. Get a Nissan remanufactured one because you won't want to do the job again next year. Check the battery with a deep cycle stress test.

Keep reading the previous posts including all by Q45tech. You now have a second career restoring your girlfriend's Q45.

Take your battery in to get checked out. May be as simple as that.Harold

REAL Multiple problems are when you get a repair estimate for $10,000.

Every used Q will have at least $3,000* worth of troubles otherwise it wouldn't be for sale.

*parts and labor at roughly 50/50.

If you have the tools and time you can save the labor by giving up your free time. Unfortunately it will take you 2-3 times as long as an experienced tech who works on Q everyday.

The thread title was edited to say "Multiple problems" by me when I moved it to IOM. That was not the original posters claim.

My life's work is to get potential buyers of older used cars [those that have no legitament warranty remaining] to just pay somebody competent to give an independent evaluation of all the defects they find in a 2-3 hour test period. Then to price these repairs and use the repair cost to discount the price.

You can easily buy a $3,000 car that needs $3,000 of repairs

Resellers count on selling you a pig in a poke...........they know for sure that 95% of buyers won't be bothered .............to ask for directions after all the are a man and know cars and surely won't admit mistakes or they are lost.
