So, my Q45 is suffering from the inevitable injector failure.

I'm looking on the IOS website and for '94, it lists two injectors, white and black. I called the local dealership and even after giving them my VIN, their system still white and black listed.

How do I know what injectors my car needs?

In order to have an ideal [closest to perfect idle balance], all injectors must be flow matched - as well a all cylinder rings compression tested and matched [why FSM specs within +- 7 psi which is +- 4%.

Most people worry about cost and don'r replace all 8 simultaneously. Thus they get to LEARN what a less than balnced idle is.

I would ask about the injectors that fit a 1996 Q45, They seem to last the longest.

How can I tell from looking at the injectors that are currently in the vehicle whether they are white or black?

Does it refer to plastic on the injector somewhere? Is it a marking?

Yes look at the injector tops (Connectors).

Go to #1 or #2 injector (because they're easy to get to) and after unplugging the connector look for a 3/16" diameter paint dot. I thought there were 3 or 4 color dots, not just black and white. One of the options is "no dot" so don't be surprised to find nothing.

What Q45T*ch was trying to say without actually saying it was that the injectors are flow tested when new and sorted by flow pattern and flow rate. The injectors within each group are given the same color dot. If you do a search of "fuel injector dot color" you'll see this is the consensus opinion here at NICO. Many would agree that using the same dot color for all 8 injectors is the optimal way to go but the performance difference mixing dot colors is unnoticable.

Not to mention matching the dot of one or two injectors on a bank to the dots on 15 year old worn injectors probably won't ensure a flow rate or spray pattern any better than the luck of the draw.
