Thank you... we work hard to make it useful. I'm sure you'll love it here!
Quote »My problem is that I'm am car retarded.
Me too... go do a search for some of my first threads. LOL - I was in the "how do I open my hood" category! Take a look at the thread I created in the Infiniti online Mechanic forum regarding the under plenum hoses. You'll see how far I have come in the last 14 months.
Quote »Just purchased 1994 Q45a heres my problem: active suspension light on and real bumpy ride if not on smooth pavement. tried the self diagnose and didn't work.
Didn't work? How do you mean? Did the lights not flash? One of my two Q45a's has the dash light burned out for the active system. So, I have to take it to the dealership for diagnosis.
Quote »This lead me to check N/H, if the car is actually physically go up or down, it doesn't; and post I saw texasoil said a green light should come on the dash and no green light comes on so I don't think it works.
The Normal/High setting switch seems to be one of the first things to go when the system isn't working properly. One of my Q's was immediately fixed by simply adding some fluid. It can be just that simple... or, it could be far more complex. Reading posts by Texasoil will help you a lot. I can pretty much guarantee that you will need recharge your 9 accumulators. So, you may as well contact Keith and get that process started.
Quote »Paid $2,000 grand 150k miles and want to keep it, drives great besides bumpy ride, great interior.
That's a good price... plan on putting in another $3-4K during the next year to get it back to as-new performance. After that you can just keep it maintained. You can get 300K out of this car if you treat it right!
Quote »Just because I don't know anything about cars I'm gonna ask, if I want to get rust and small dent out (probably just repaint?) what is the best course of action?
This is a tough one. The early Q45's came with some of the best paint ever put on an automobile. Repairing the paint in a way that will duplicate the factory quality of the paint is a difficult and expensive proposition. For the moment, I would forgo cosmetic work and make sure the car is mechanically solid.
Quote »Also I noticed slip light constantly comes on and car kinda gets stuck at 3 rpm and really hard time getting from 80 - 100mph. I would appreciate any help or suggestions, pure Q45 lover, want to make it work. Thanks.
Last issue sounds like it could be the start of the demise of your transmission. Hopefully not, though. Some of the experts might be able to give you better input on this part. But, I can tell you that you will need to install a transmission cooler and do a BG transmission flush (preferably with synthetic ATF). That may buy you some life on the transmission.
Make sure you start by replacing all fluids and flushing all systems... including Active. Do transmission, brakes, steering, Active, oil, and coolant. Some of this you can do on your own (lots of instructions located at
http://www.q45.org ) and some of it you will need someone else to do.
Do LOTS and LOTS of reading on NICO and you will be fine.
BTW... click on the link in my sig. Might help on your next post.
