ok i got a timing light...... so tell me if i did this righti unbolted CAS and hooked red to + and black to a common ground and clipped the driver side spark plug wire [the wire coming out of the valve cover] then started the car light was flashing so i turned the CAS to the right [driver side] all the way light still flashed but it almost looked like a solid beam of light.... i assume that this is timed RIGHT ......

well the car is still messed up and its still doing the same thing. i cleared the codes before i started this project. a friend said that i might have messed up my valves please say i didn't once i start it doesn't feel like any thing is mess up until its wormed up all the way.... my exhaust is gutted and one side is has a hole in it now it just happen i was not driving it far could this be it help mewhat could it be

No you didnt do it right....

What you have to do is shine the timing light on the crank pulley... Adjust so it its 15*. Theres a little nub sticking out of the front cover that acts as the indicator, its easy to tell once your in there with the lite....

Engine has to be FULLY warmed up.. Right before you do the test, rev the motor a few times... Also its good practice to unplug the IAC.

4th mark going left to right (as you face the car.....)

Wes,

I see you used my picture to illustrate the CAS adjustment. I think that I got that *** backwards though... I remember making a new picture. I just emailed the updated one to you so that you can correct the post on Q45.org if you want...

Thanks!

Heath

im pretty sure it was right the first time... You move the CAS clockwise to move it clockwise on the crank pulley, and left to right advances it...

you dont have to undo the belts!!!!! You just have to run the motor and shine it on the crank pulley.

If you need help, feel free to call me.. my contact info is on Q45.org (on the contact page)

not good i don't think it my timing ..... what could it be ? i have no cats on my exhaust but its running fine for months it like the coils sending unit [thing on top of the valve cover] is messed up, i do not now what it called. well here's the story, she will not go over 2000 rpm but some times it will, it runs fine cold ..... which i find weird but when it worm up it back fires . it like running out of gas ....when you give it more it just shakes and creeps slowly down the road until it dies but it doesn't die it just feel like the motor will fall out if i drive any harder....

what could it be?

hows your fuel pump? 2000 RPM usually means something MAF related is bad... No CEL?

Wiggle the MAF connector until it straightens out and see if that helps. and then clean the connector very carefully.

Wes is right. MAF probs won't let it go past 2K R's.

when i started it to day she turned over at a low rpm i think it was around 500 not to sure but, then when i put in reverse it stalled out and would not start back up . waited a little bit and then started back up and stalled it out .........after doing this four or five time it started...

i don't think it the maf or it connector

i have cleaned it before not to long ago and i looked at it today and also wiggle the connector no luck

when driving the car it shakes or jolts forwards like, one side was cranking or as if you turning a key in a 5 speed with it in gear but, then it fine...... only for one second then the car will go past 2,000rpm while driving but when in park & neutral under no load it will go over 2,000 it all the time . the idle changes it go's up and down around 200 rpm it back fires when this happened and it blow my exhaust when the problem started, this was at it worsethe problem progressed and was not this bad the idle just jumped a little bit about a 2 weeks ago

what could this be? a fuel problem? a spark problem? idk

hmm im not sure, we realy need more info to properly diagnose.... You could try grounding your fuel pump and see if that would take care of it.

we need to fix the cause, not the problem.... That is pretty strange, im not sure what would cause that.... I think you might look into taking it to a Q45 specialist...

correct me if i am wrongbut what i was trying to say is when its cold it in a pre-programed mode for timing, fuel, and spark. until it is worm up.... when wormed up is when this problem happens . would it be possibly to trick the ecu to make it think its in this safe mode all the time. what happened when ks go bad is it simmiler to what happend to my Qor what about injector 0-rings to much gas would make it back fire maybe mes with idle and acc trys to compensate for rase in idle make it jumpi need some idea 's what this could be
