I pretty know much know the basics on replacing a fp on any car. What are the specifics that I would need to look out for w/ this one @ 172k miles? Who's been there already. MAYDAY-MAYDAY!!! This one's getting weaker driving home....***THX***

It's much easier than you'd expect, unless you plan to remove and cleant he tank. Most don't, but should.

Here's a very well done write up.

Don't drive any further or you will be replacing the FPCU also, if not already.

pretty easy project. I can't remember which hose it was but I pulled one line off (a return line I think) before the others and there was a little pressure in it and some fuel leaked out into the trunk (not much but it smelled for a bit). If you disconnect the other lines first it'll release the pressure and it won't leak. Basically, if you get some leakage from a line tighten it up and do the others first. Wish I would have kept better track on which one it was but it wasn't that big of a deal.

Maybe someone else will remember having the same issue and will have more specifics. Could be as easy as opening the gas cap.(?)

Alright then...by the way, how did you get to yours? From through the trunk or from the rear deck

Do it from the rear deck. Unless you're aware if it, you'll probably bend the level float/sender as you put the new one in. It's almost impossible not to, if you try to get at it from the trunk. Be careful of all the deck clips and be ready for nasty gas spills.

THE GREAT TANGALORA!

She explains in detail:zer...age=2

Be careful when working with the pump to not bend the floater arm.

I pulled the liner out of the trunk, and the rear deck. It's really not that difficult, just take it a piece a time. Seat comes out pretty easy. Tuff part is getting some of the 10+ year old plastic clips out of the rear deck without them crumbling.

Incidently, the links Tangalora provides don't work anymore, but you can still get at them by manually entering the post number into the URL window.

For instance, she lists http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....=3984 which doesn't work. But if you go to your browser URL window and replace the post number (id=????????) with 3984, it'll work.

This also holds true for any other busted links you may find in old threads.

Hey, if a idiot like me can replace it, I'm sure you can do it. An extra pair of hands sure helps so ask a buddy over to help you out.
