i have read through the forums and i did not see anything that relates to the question i am about to ask. First of all i can hear my fuel pump buzzing thru the back seat. When i called my infiniti dealer and got the price, he said that if i replace the fuel pump i have to replace the fpcm. is this true or not, because the fuel pump is $345 and the fpcm is $600. and if it is true where can if find these parts cheaper(if that's possible). and also i found a fpcm on ebay that came out of a 1995 Q. if i need the fpcm will the one on ebay work in my '94 Q45t before i buy it.

ps. thanks for the advice on the maf sensor!!!

Used [ebay/junkyard] FPCU might be as degraded weakened as your current unit................they are weakened from being used to power fuel pumps which draw excessive current from being worn or exposure to water in gasoline. Some can be repaired if caught in time but 13 years is getting pretty old for electrolytic capacitors [depending on heat exposure].

The dealer wants to be certain that neither goes wrong for 12+ months after the repair because if they change the just the fuel pump and the FPCU fails at 11 months they don't want you back in screaming for warranty.

Just as dealers require new rad and tcu with a transmission replacement for the 12 month warranty.

Used FPCU's can be had for around $100, you figure you can buy 6 of them for hte price of new, and certainly in there youd get a good one...

Usually you cna get a FPCU from a guy here on NICO and they'll be good, but id at least have one on hand, i keep a spare with me. FPCU are compatible 90-95...

replace the pump..

Fuel pumps are less than $200 from http://www.infinitipartsusa.com including the O-ring.

Read the posts here to learn how to do it right, and how it is done wrong also. Very easy. The best thread includes step by step FPCM diagnostics by Tangalora.
