On my 94' G50 I have noticed that the transmission shifts very harshly when moderately warm. Here in Arizona the temperature is now in the 90's, and all of a sudden the harshness has disappeared. Transmission also smooth before reaches full warm-up temp. Does this sound like an erratic transmission temp sensor? Does the Consult provide readings on this sensor? Ideas?

Of course the Consult does..............connector corrosion? at either end of harness.

An interesting test/modification is to vary ^ the viscosity of ATF by using Redline High Temp ATF in increments 10%..............drain 2.5 add 1-2 quart [HT-ATF] to refill.

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/redtech4a.htm

Each quart substituted will increase viscosity 3.3% so even 3 would be only 10%

About 2000 I tried 100% HT-ATF until winter when I had to cut it 50/50 so even that was ok.

Higher viscosity = higher line pressure??? = firmer shifts???

The FSM shows the pressure test ports and values. Make sure TPS idle 0.4-0.45 volts is spot on.

How many minutes and seconds does a BG Machine flush/fluid exchange take------ that time shows the pump and seal health [flow volume per minute] ~~3 minutes 30 seconds no more than 4 minutes.

Thanks Q45tech. Plan on implementing your test. Should have my Consult link arriving in a few days and will see what kind of values that yields as well. What about the test approach of using a fixed value resistor in place of the transmission sensor? Maybe disconnecting the temp. sensor harness at the outside of transmission and inserting a resistor at the TCU connector. The resistance value would be that of full operating temperature.

Never used a software Consult not sure how much of transmission diagnostics they implemented.

Pin 33 on TCU 1.5 volts ~~68F and 0.5 volts~~176F or inversing 0.01volts per 1F ATF temp.

Was the Automatic Transmission (A/T) fluid temperature sensor meant to be used as a accurate way to measure fluid temperature?

I am not questioning how accurate the sensor is but rather why there is some overlap in the A/T Fluid temperature VS Volts scale. I know for a fact my calculations are correct as them have been check over meticulously even shared with some members.
