Now that Ti is coming down in price, I was curious what the automotive industry was doing with this material.

If you Google titanium springs, there are several companies that will fab Ti springs for you.

This might be the ultimate G50 suspension setup, don't you think?

I also found that Ti might be available with disk brake rotors.

Such a weight reduction would really wake the Q up.

How much weight would you save by going with Titanium springs? Maybe, ten pounds per spring.

Might be worth it if it is cheap enough. I would want to know how long the springs will hold their shape before sagging.

Now, there is a performance potential in reducing weight from the rotors since it is rotating mass. But I wonder how braking performance is affected by the lighter metal.

A big brake kit with titanium rotors might be worth it.

The density of Titanium is about 56% of the density of steel.

Current word is that Ti memory would last twice as long as steel.

Ti response rate is much higher than steel, therefore keeping the tire planted on the ground better.

Well, it is not unsprung weight. If the response time is different, one would need specially valved shocks. Titanium suspension pieces would be interesting, but not going to happen for a G50.

Half of everything attached to wheel hub is unsprung.............assuming you have the lightest forged wheels obtainable and the lightest custom aluminum suspension pieces, guess springs might be worth the effort [but 2 lbs for what they might cost?].........might be in the Forumala 1 price bracket. Along with the $2,500 each carbon fiber rotors.
