dug in to replace the 2 little bulbs in the message center and replace the roll pin in the left pivot of the ash tray. that all went beautifully.about the time i was unplugging the 4 harnesses from the speedo cluster, i noticed the map light that i had put on to help see went out.figured it would spontaneously come back at some point during reassembly, but no.as far as i can tell, EVERYTHING else works. Can't hail the lights with the dimmer switch, key fob,,,,lock/unlock works, seat positioner works, etc.

message center reads 'door open' when a door is open and 'ok/mileage when all doors closed.

.soooo, what might i have screwed up??

Jay a common area for shorts in that circuit is the sun visor wiring where it exits the assembly's tubing (behind the headliner). I saw it on both visors from the Q I parted out. The wiring slides about an 1/8 of an inch every time the visor is opened and twists every time it's used as a side window shade, eventually wearing out the sheathing and shorting.

Simple to remove and check. I soldered in new wires back to the mirror and put on 2 layers of shrink tubing for a better than OEM fix.
