A couple of mileage myths that I have been going by... do they help?

First, I count up my mileage almost every fill-up. But I can't compare these tiny differences since there are so many variables.

1 - A full tank will give you up to an extra 50 miles when your low just because of the fumes.

2 - Keep fuel above 1/2 tank for better mileage in the long run. That's what I hear...

3 - City driving. Will I close in on HWY mileage if I don't push over 1500RPMs between shifts?

4 - My pops always told me to keep it under 70 in the Q. Now I know why, I can definitely see the fuel meter run at 80MPH but not at 70MPH or 90MPH.

5 - Every time I fill a full tank, the first 1/4 tank goes quick. Counting the mileage, the meter isn't lying. Why???

Myths. And city driving is affected by idling, at which point you get 0 MPG, which quickly brings down the average.

Idling 650 rpms with AC and all loads off consumes 0.8 gallons per hour vs driving 60 mph which consumes 2.4 gallons per hour.

A 4 cylinder would consume ~~ half the 0.8 gph idling so any 4 cylinder is better for city driving MPG.

above 60mph, it's aero drag. ever stick a body part out the window at speed?
