I'm going to be hooking up some more gauges. I just haven't figured out where to put them yet. The choice is between the A-pillar or on top of the dash.

There is someone out there with A-pillar gauges on a Q. I remember seeing the pic a long time ago.

I wonder how hard it would be to wrap the gauge surround with leather or simuleather vinyl?

Id really like to see this done because thats something I thought would look good. Also another option would be to put in a gauge cluster where the climate controller is, move the climate controller down and have only a 1din HU.

1-DIN gauge mounts are readilly available, so no need to bother with moving the hvac controls. Of couse you would need to use a 1-DIN radio, which most prefer anyway (more choices). Theres tons out there, but here's just a couple i foundhttp://www.streetunit.com/product_p/sudpod.htm http://www.impossible-performa...s.htm

Jesda, it would be an easy DIY or any upholstery shop would cover a gauge pod for cheap $$. I like them when they are painted to match the pillar. Personal opinion..

The best pillar jobs I have seen yet are of course the car show winners. This requires some degree of skill with body putty (bondo) and fiberglass. The result is pure sexy class though. First remove BOTH a-pillars from the car. You would mount the unpainted gauge pod in the standard method, and using bondo and fiberglass, you would blend the transition from gauge pod to pillar so it was nice and smoooooth. Then sand sand sand! lots of sanding. Then take the whole A-pillar AND the passenger side pillar to a good auto body shop and pay them to paint match some spray to the original (as close as possible) and have them spray both pillar plastics. Boom! They match each other and it will look classssy like it rolled out of the factory like that.
