Strife:

I felt this would be a good idea as well.

There are always some packaging and weight concerns when a 6 cyl car is converted to 8 cylinder.

No word on a G45 yet.

But I'd like to think one could be forthcoming.

that would not be a G35 anymore, it would be a skyline GT (-R, -T or whatever)

VQ has a point. The arrival of a Skyline GTR on same chassis with what is said to be a VQ35DTT engine would likley pre-clude the production of a G45.

You are correct the latest info says it will be VQ35DTT in an Infiniti GTR which will be a G35 incarnation.

This makes a VK45de swap less likely for G series.

You often skip the "e" when you put in a TT lettering in a NIssan twin turbo engine code, for brevity.

if you're thinking of hte magazine i am, its an old *** car and drive magazine, and actually it says the skline GTR will get a 'haull ***' 4oohp v6, 'or an even more potent version of the v8 used in teh infiniti q45', but again, this was like an o1 magazine, so its all outdated now, so far the 'GTR' will be an AWD g35 coupe 6spd, with ATTESA awd, and a vq35dett

From what I have been told by the Factory Reps. they are currently working on putting the 5.6L (re-tunned of course) from the Titan/Armada/QX56 in the new GT-R, this they are saying should yield about 400HP. The reason they are not doing any turbos in the future is because of the strict emissions standards here in the US. They are also worried that Cal. will soon become a zero emissions state, which as of right now is their biggest market. But I know that they will be releasing the GT-R in Japan sometime in early '04, which will be the same car that comes to us. They will be releasing it as a Infiniti model due to the $70,000 estimated price tag. If everything goes as planned we should see it in Dec. 2004, AWD six speed only. This of course is "rumor mill" until we actually see some real evidence.:D

i hope its a rumor, somehow however i dont doubt you're wrong about not having turbos due to emissions. However i fear a huge v8 wouldnt happen in japan, here maybe, but i think they'll get hte vq35dett, which btw , has alredy been 'confirmed' by nissan, so unles they unconfirm taht, ill stick with the vq35dett, i hope

But this leads to inaccuracy as the VK45DE has port injection while the VK45DD is direct cylinder injection.

While they do not exist from the factory, a VK45DETT would be a different animal from a VK45DDTT. Unfortunately, we will probably see neither.

I would like to see this "confirmation" of the VQ35DETT, with the way Nissan has been streamlining their production I highly doubt that we will ever see a engine produced by Nissan that will be one model specific. Keep in mind they also used the VK45 in the Presisdent and the Leopard (Japanese J30), so we know that Japan isn't afraid of the V8.

**heresay alert** i read somewhere (searched yesterday to find a link, but to no avail:( ) that nissan planned on giving it's home market (and practically everywhere else) the VQ35DETT, while north america will get the VK45DE (or some other V8) w/a manu-matic tranny! of course, until the 2k3 tokyo auto show, i'm skeptical about nearly everything i hear/read/am told. i'd like to hear it from the horse's mouth...
