Was recently hit from behind, totalled my Audi A4.. It was my second A4 and I was growing tired of constant repair/maintenance.

I picked out a Q50 as a rental and immediately started looking into the G37X.

Long story short, I found a 2012 G37X with 30,000 miles in pretty good shape for 20K. Clean title, maintenance records.

*There is one ding on the driver side, by the rear wheel. Not a huge deal, PDR if it really ends up bothering me. (I also realize that used cars are used. Not perfect..)

*The steering wheel is off center to the left when driving straight. Test drive was fine, nothing weird. Steering isn't really pulling in one direction or the other. I asked if the dealership was willing to align the car as part of the sale. They told me since the car wasn't pulling and driving true, they would just remove the steering wheel and re-install.

*The rear bumper edge is popped out a bit on the driver side. I didn't take a picture of the car, but here is one I found that looks exactly the same:

I asked if they would be willing to fix the bumper fitment as part of the sale. They said they'd have a technician look at it to see if fitment could be improved - with no guarantee.

I know that the steering wheel issue can be easily resolved with an alignment. I'm just going to require that they do it before the sale and let me test drive it to confirm.

Is the bumper fitment issue common on the G37? Throughout my search I've seen 4 or 5 cars with the same sort of problem.

Is this something that can be fixed easy/cheap?

Thanks!!!

I've never seen fitment issues from bumpers on any G (I've had 2 and I also have a Q50). The bumper section at the tail should have a screw at that corner where you can loosen it and adjust. I'm wondering if the bumper was replaced at some point and not properly reinstalled.

The steering wheel being crooked would be more of a concern as that would indicate to me it was either poorly aligned (which should cause the vehicle to handle poorly) or there was some form of an accident in the front that was not properly fixed. Having the alignment seem OK now but the wheel being crooked would make me suspect that something is amiss.

I would make them re align the car and straighten the steering wheel. Removing the wheel and reinstalling doesn't necessarily mean the splines will line up properly to get the wheel straight. The alignment would be the easiest route. If they aren't willing to do a 20 minute alignment and show you the actual specs, I would walk way. Smells of collision damage to me....
