Hi all.
I am new to the forums here.
I have been looking around for others experiencing a problem similar to mine, but have found nothing.
I have a 2011 g37x. I have had it for about 6 months.
Shortly after taking delivery of the vehicle, I noticed distortions in both the drivers side and passenger mirrors.
As time went on, the distortion got worse.
The distortions are not minor. The manager and tech at the dealership said it reminded them of looking in a fun house mirror. Everything is wavy and bent.

Fast forward to now. I have had the mirrors replaced 3 times and the distortion is still there.
The dealer is telling me “this problem appears to exist on the glass for all vehicles of this model.”
They then told me I should call Infiniti consumer affairs.
I have been in contact with consumer affairs for several weeks.
First they told me they had the dealer check a shipment of multiple new mirrors, and all have the distortion problem.
They also told me 3 out of 4 vehicles on the lot appear to have this problem.
In a recent conversation with them, they said they now believe it is the heating element in the mirrors causing the distortion, but have no solution.

I am very confused by this.
According to the dealer and consumer affairs, this problem exists an almost all the vehicles.
But, I cannot seem to find others reporting the issue.
And Infiniti is not offering any solution to the problem. Every time the rep of consumer affairs updates me, she just says she is waiting for such and such manager to respond to her email.
I have owed 2 other g35x’s in the past. I never had any major problems with them.
I am very disappointed with Infiniti not offering any solutions to the problems.

Has anyone else experienced the mirror issue?

Has anyone had to deal with consumer affairs before?
I am not having much luck with them.
Any advice on how to get them to resolve the problem would be appreciated.

Seems like the way to rule out the glass as an issue would be to simply roll the window down, but I guess techs aren't trained to do that. With something this common, you would think they would instate a recall to have the heating element fix. If it's honestly affecting 75% of the cars on the lot, I would say that's sufficient grounds for a recall.

Welcome to NICO. Sorry to hear about your trouble with the mirrors. Have you looked at other G37s on the lot to see if they are the same? I have not noticed it on mine...

I noticed a strange distortion in the drivers side mirror (didn't notice it in the passengers side, will look later) the first time i drove my parents 2007 G35x but wasn't sure if it was my eyes playing tricks on me or if it was actually the glass. I would have described it exactly as you did, it was like looking into a fun house mirror. Asking my parents if they had seen the same distortion in the mirrors they said they didn't see anything so it must be just starting in the car. The car has just over 20000 miles and we've had it for about a month. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to really research it because I literally thought it was just my eyes, but I'm glad to hear that my eyes aren't just going to $h!t. I'm interested to see why this is happening.

You can disconnect the heating element in the mirror and see if it doesnt distort the next time they install it. It does come on with your rear defroster. Do you leave that on for long periods of time.
