Does anyone have input on how the AWD G37x coupe performs in the snow (without snow tires)? I live in the northeast and we have are share of snow. I've been driving an Audi A4 for the last 10 years in the snow and have never had a problem with their Quattro system. I need to replace it and have narrowed my choice to the G37x or the Audi A5. I found the G37 a lot more fun to drive..so I'm leaning that way. My only holdback is that I do not know anyone who owns one and get feedback on the snow handling situation. Of course the dealers tell me I won't have any problem. Thanks for anyone who can help.

I have owed an Audi A6 4.2 and a 2005 g35X and 2011 G37x. I would say that the Audi does have an edge in snow and slippery situations. Quatro is hard to beat. The g35x I felt was good but the new g37x is great in the bad weather. I have driven mine in the bad weather recently and it has been very stable. I have a very steep driveway and the g37 climbs it without slippage on snow days without even engaging the snow mode.

Although I give Audi the edge in the snow the infiniti is better in every other way Lets face it even with the recent bad weather there are not that many times we really need the AWD. For all the other days Infiniti is leaps and bounds over the Audi. The Audi A5 is good looking but the g37x is great looking and really out performs the audi with great engine tone, tons of electronics and great handling and transmission.

On top of that, Audi is famous for very expensive repairs and much more frequent engine issues. I had over 100K on my g35x when I sold it and never had a major problem the car. My audi was drinking 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles after it had 70k on it and the car was well taken care of. Audi refused to stand by it which was very disappointing. Honestly I had no good reason to sell the g35x it except I wanted the new g37x and couldn't resist when they put the big incentives on at the end of the year.

But that's just my opinion.

Thanks Bill. Your comments are very helpful. I really appreciate your input. I guess I'm a white knuckler when it comes to driving in the snow.

Hi Bill. Just want to be sure. Do you have the sedan or coupe. I'm looking at the coupe.

I have seen a couple G37x Coupes driving around my neighborhood. They appear to have no trouble what so ever.
I have a G35x sedan with snows on her. I can easily drive in just about any snow conditions but more importantly I can STOP much quicker. In my case it possibly save the life of a child last winter, who ran into the street while having a snowball fight with some friends.
I don't understand why someone, who can obviously afford to drive a fairly expensive car, doesn't pay a few hundred dollars for some snow tires. If you live where you have snow and ice for 2-3 months or more, it makes sense to have them. Your summer/all seasons will last longer too.

Edit: i should have wrote, I am in Waterloo Ontario where there is plenty of snow too.
Cheers
