Hello.... just signed up and glad we have such a large G35 and G37 community. I recently purchased my 2009 G37s, black for $39k with 11K miles on it... Very happy with the ride. My question to you folks is about the security system. Is it good enough. I live in Jamaica NY and it get pretty rough out here with the crackheads and all..lol. Wondering how effective the oem alarm is. I dont know if the dealer duped me with it because i heard from one of my friends that ths G37S comes with a lcd remote screen so that you can monitor what part of you car is being tooled with. Does anyone know what the factory alarm options are??

Its just a key fob... Nothing else...

If you lock it and some one brakes in the horn will go off and the lights will flash for ever lol

nice ride you got there.... well im typically worried about my oem wheels being stolen.... the car doesnt come with factory lock lug nuts. I didnt bother purchasing aftermarket lock nuts since i heard people have been using pressure/vise grips to take those off too!!!

welcome. and unfortunately there is no alarm system out there that will actually stop your car from being broken into or stolen. it will stop someone like me because i have no idea how to steal a car. but some !@#$^%^%&##^@^% that wants your car is going to get it. i never saw the point in the alarm system that you are talking about with the remote showing you where your car is being damaged. so your out somewhere and all the sudden you get a beep showing you your window is smashed.

the infiniti alarm does cut out fuel from the engine and does beep and make a noise once engaged. thats pretty much as good as you can get from an alarm system.

My personal opinion is that the G's alarm/theft deterant system is great at keeping honest people out of your car and thiefs from stealing your car.

Getting into the car is quite easy. So keeping thiefs from your belongings inside the car is a different story.

I'm surprised that the dealer didn't include the $39 set of wheel locks. Getting those off without a key is pretty hard. I tried getting a 12 point socket jammed on there, but that didn't work. Getting Vise grips on hard enough with the tight clearance would be pretty difficult.

Are you saying that if someone stole my car and was driving it, the fuel would shut off? That would be cool.

I have had a car stolen. I think everybody in Memphis has. It is the sickest feeling you can imagine. We had one kid get his car stolen from a car club meeting. I felt so bad for him. It really wasn't that nice of a car but he had worked very hard on it. Thiefs SUCK!!!

I'm assuming you bought your G37 from an Infiniti dealer?

If so go back there and speak nicely to the sales person and tell them you were very surprised that the vehicle had no wheel locks.Ask them to provide them.Talk to the sales manager if necessary & if still no results complain to Infiniti customer service.

BTW have you considered either moving or getting an indoor garage?

If I was in Jamaica I probably would have bought something like this to park on the street.

Shortly after getting married we first lived in Elmhurst. My new wife came back upstairs one day to tell me her car wouldn't start. ( A 61 Pontiac Tempest)I went downsatairs and discovered someone had stolen her battery. We moved to NJ not long after.

Good luck

The fuel cut is engaged when the alarm goes off IIRC. So basically, they can't get the car started unless they can bypass that system somehow which is difficult since it's integrated into the CAN Bus.

Yes, you have it becki.every infiniti from 02 has it. And Newbie, get a set of wheel locks. its much better to have them than to not have them.

yeah the theif has to do a little more than just hot wire the car...

im more worried about stuff in my car getting stolen then the thief actually getting away with my car because of the fuel cut off. I say worst case if you dealing with a run of the mil thief... you lose some valuables in the car, a broken window, and/or your wheels... but the car will be right there...

I think there was a post on this fourum of a guy who got his 19inch wheels stolen... and yes his car was fine... just no wheels...
