HEy all,

I have a g37 that was rear ended. My previous post was bout the experience with the shop. Anyway I had gotten it back looks and drives real good. However when I get the car up to 80 I hear a faint wind noise from the drivers side. The car was rear ended on the driver side. Took it back to the shop 3x. First time, they said it was fixed. It wasnt. 2nd time they spent a day on it, unsuccessfully. They told me to bring it back and they would put new weather stripping in, which they did, but didnt fix the problem.

Finally I told geico (my ins company) that I will bring it to the shop infiniti uses. Geico spoke to the original shop owners and told me shop A will pay shopB. Fine.

I get a call today from shopA owner(reputable shop btw) saying that he wants me to be happy, but doenst think another shop would have better luck, but will still pay them. After talking some, I agreed that I would give him another shot to fix it. He said that he wanted research to see if these cars have an inherent problem with wind noise, wtf?

So I am asking you guys if you have experienced wind noise (very faint) before, and where it could be coming from. Note that I do not feel air coming in throught the window. I as well as the shop is stumped.

These cars are wind free 99.9% of the time. However, once any car is involved in a relatively serious accident, I am not sure it ever gets back to its original state. I would be more worried about rain getting intot he car than wind blowing into it. If the windows are up, and you start to hear the wind whistling its way into the car, just pull the window down, and the wind noise will become less apparent. Just my 2 cents.

I drive my G-35 95% of the time without air or with windows down, in all conditions, except when it rains.

thanks for the replies. Now Im wondering if what i am hearing is the noise of the outside air hitting the car (no, not stoned, maybe going crazy). I do not feel the air coming in, but just hear an overall muffled sound, kinda when the wind blows against your windows at home.

If you hear it muffled that is different what I had. Mine had a whisling noise.

The best way to find out where it is comming from is taping. Tape it by sections. Till you find a section where the noise comming from. Sometimes it can come from the mirror. Under the mirror there i a rubber pc. If that does not sit perfect it can cause wind noise.

You can bet they do... it's just that few will ever go that extra mile.

Sad really considereing what they charge.

IMO you have a brand new car! It should drive and feel and sound still like a brand new car!

I would ensure it's fixed right, that why you pay insurance.
