A salesman told me about this dealer-offered warranty. It is not a replacement for the normal tire's MFG warranty. This covers any damage caused by a bad pot hole, for example. One customer, he said, had to pay about $1,100 to replace one tire & wheel.Does anyone know about this option: the cost, any deductions, and- of course- IS IT WORTH IT??

Had the same offer, read the policy and it has a lot of exclusions like rubbing up against the curb for one. I believe the wording was such that it had to be a non natural accident. If it would have at least covered curb scuff I might have considered, however with the exclusions I didn't think it was worth it on OEMs. I'd just take that as an opportunity to upgrade my wheels if I damage these.

The plan is a 4-1 plan, covers Tires, wheels, windshield and dents with no Deductible for 5 years with no mileage restrictions.I paid $599,figured it was worth it if I hit one pothole.

I agree... I believe here in Canada... 1 rim is 900 and the rubber is 600. Good idea if you are planning on keeping the shoes stock

If you can afford the consequences of the action then do not get the insurance. The company that is selling the insurance is making good money off the sale, so if you can afford to insure yourself the money goes into your pocket instead of their's. You need fire insurance on your house because you can't afford to replace it. Can you afford the cost of a new tire and rim? If you can save the money.

I have a 39 month lease on the Journey w/ Sport and Navi, therefore, I did not want to take the chance of damaging the wheels and having to pay for it at the end. I talked my dealership (Lynnes Infiniti in Bloomfield, NJ) down to 395$ for the entire 39 month term. He said I can have it replaced at any dealership in the US or Canada if something happened. He said they dont give drivers a hard time. I dont think he would lie to me, as I got his family member a job at the company which I supervise...

I took it and used it already. I scuffed the front passenger wheel on a curb. I took it to Competition Infiniti in Smithtown NY and they replaced it with a brand new wheel, no questions asked. It's already paid for me.

Actually I disagree. This is one add on in the finance office that was actually useful to me. I paid $450 for it and it paid for itself within the first year.

Due to construction in the neighborhood I picked up nails in both back tires close enough to the sidewall to be deemed unrepairable therefore they replaced the tires for free. Saved me $850.

I normally would not recommend add-on services because that is usually where the finance guy bends you over his desk and really lets you have it.....BUT.....I would purchase this one again.
